Just in case you haven’t heard and were wondering who won the USD3000 Talent Prize for Performance Art 2008, here is the press release from the sponsor, the Danish Embassy Hanoi.

FULL HOUSE – THE CDEF TALENT PRIZE 2008 – A HUGE SUCCES.

National Television was there when fully packed Van Ho Exhibition Centre decided the winner of the 3000USD award in the CDEF Talent Prize 2008 Final Competition.

“Tonight, performance art has received the attention it deserves, and there is no doubt in my mind that performance art in Vietnam will have strong influence on the Vietnamese art scene in the years to come” Mr. Peter Lysholt Hansen, The Danish Ambassador to Vietnam expressed as he handed over the talent prize award to Mr. Pham Van Truong.

The CDEF talent prize is a part of Danish assistance to culture and art in Vietnam which provides direct support to contemporary artists and performances in Vietnam as well as cultural exchange between Denmark and Vietnam. The CDEF Talent prize for young Vietnamese artists is given annually by the Embassy of Denmark to support to the cultural activities in Vietnam and to promote young talents in various fields of art. With the talent prize event the CDEF wishes to provide the young Vietnamese performance artists with an opportunity to enter a national competition and gain recognition for their talents.

The theme for next year’s talent prize will be decided in the beginning of 2009 and published on the embassy webpage.
