Hanoi Opera House
The Dramatic National Theatre of Vietnam, the International Scenic Factory (Factoría Escénica Internacional); with the support of INAEM Spanish Culture Ministry, The Spanish Embassy in Vietnam and the Culture, Tourism and Sports Ministry of Vietnam, present the theatre adaptation of the film ‘Take My Eyes’.
The film was directed by Icíar Bollaín, and the theatre adaptation was produced by director Carmen Portaceli. ‘Take My Eyes’ tells a story of sexist violence between a couple. It is a story of love and fear, a story of control and power. It talks about making the right decisions, about losing faith in hard moments, and beyond this about the weaknesses of the strong and the strengths of the weak.
Although Portaceli considers this project a challenge, it has also given her the chance to bring to a different country and a different culture “such an important theme all over the world, and from which Spain is becoming aware of”” Sexist violence is a problem that we have to face if we want to reach the equality that every human has the right to deserve.
There will be subtitles in Vietnamese, Spanish and English.
Schedule
The premiere is on 05 Nov. The other 2 performances on 08 & 09 Nov are for Vietnamese students who speak/learn Spanish and for the Women’s Union Organization of Vietnam.
