Part I
Black Water
Choroegrapher: Jorma Uotinen
To the performance Black Silk Finnish dance nestor, Jorma Uotinen created an entirely new piece for Skånes Dansteater. Black Water is a magnificent choreography with 17 dancers, stunning lighting design, suggestive costumes and innovative music. To the performance a whole new musical composition was created. Jonas Nydesjö rearranged the Finnish heavy metal band Nightwish album Dark Passion Play into a symphonic piece that in Malmö was performed by Malmö Opera orchestra and opera choir. Over stage hovers a sculpture, Dark Cloud, by Finnish artist Kimmo Schroderus.

“Returning to Vietnam two years after creating “Heart of Silk” for the company, I wanted to work with the dancers in a more interactive way. This new piece explores intimate human encounters through intricate partnering. Set on a simple theme of bamboo, its strength and fluidity is echoed in the flowing movement of the dancers.”
