The Japan Foundation writes:

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam presents YuRiE, the Japanese cosplayers to Vietnam for the first time to participate in Acctive Expo 2010 and to hold a photo & video exhibition in Hanoi.

“Cosplay” or the dressings & makings up to be characters from various animations, manga and games are the art of the visualization of 2 dimensional images into 3 dimensional figures.

YuRiE is a collaborative cosplay team formed by two young Japanese cosplayers: YuRi & RiE. They earned the honor of being cosplay champion of the world at the World Cosplay Summit 2009. Their cosplay and performance being Sanada Hiroyuki & Date Masamune, the characters from the game software named Sengoku BASARA, were highly acclaimed by both the juries and the audience in the World Cosplay Summit which is held annually in Nagoya, Japan.

The exhibition, the varieties of such visualizations are displayed in the series of photography and video works at the Exhibition Hall of the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam. The opening party will be held at 14:00 on Saturday 11 September, and the exhibition runs until Thursday 23 September. Admission is free.

Besides the exhibition, YuRiE will participate in Acctive Expo 2010 in Hanoi wherein a lot of pop culture activities are packed in one day event held at Hanoi Children’s Palace (36 Ly Thai To) on Sunday 12 September 2010. YuRiE will be the jury of “Cos’Night” in which 5 selected groups of Vietnamese cosplayers make performances to compete each other, followed by the performance by YuRiE themselves. Apart from the “Cos’ Night,” YuRiE will be around the booth of the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam to communicate and take photographs with Vietnamese friends.
