Douglas Jardine, a professor at Hanoi University, will continue his series of monthly lectures with a focus on the history and meanings of Long Bien Bridge through time, from its creation by the French in the early 20th century to now. Long Bien Bridge is over 100 years old and has survived revolution and the anger of the American Air Force. This lecture will also explore how today the Long Bien Bridge creates a social space for those who have been left behind in Vietnam’s economic miracle.
Please note that this is a repeat of the lecture on May 16 – back by popular demand!
