In 2014/15 the biggest archeological exhibition on the city of Thang Long’s early days ever to be shown outside of Vietnam will take place in Germany. In preparation for this significant project of cooperation between Germany and Vietnam, the Kooperationsverbund organizes in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Department of Culture Heritage and Goethe-Institut Hanoi an international scientific colloquium from February 29th until March 2nd, 2012 in Goethe-Institut Hanoi.

22 lectures will aim to give an overview of Vietnam’s rich culture, ranging from the Stone Age up to the recent past. Renowned experts will comment on a number of archeological as well as historical questions from various fields.
Special attention will be given to the cultures of Northern Vietnam with its Dong Son culture as well as the current research on the citadel of Thang Long. Other parts of Vietnam and their relation to the North will also be discussed.

Mrs. Professor Sabine von Schorlemmer, the Saxon State Minister for Science and the Arts, will open the conference together with the head of the Ministry for Culture, Sport and Tourism in Vietnam with a short welcoming speech.

    I am currently writing a Master’s thesis on the Red Dao and Black Hmong in the northern Red River area of Vietnam. And I am currently working for a travel agency in Hanoi.
