”How Skating Saved My Life”: Pop Up Shop, Screening and Art Talk

‘c.r.e.a.m inc’ is an Art/Culture Street entity and brain child of Gia Luu, a Vietnamese born American currently residing in Hanoi. On April 27th, he will be presenting a special, one of a kind, first ever conceptual art event that promises to push the culture here in Vietnam.

Hear, explore, dissect and discuss the relation and impact of creativity, identity, race, lifestyle and it’s correlation to skateboarding culture from a Vietnamese born American. Growing up on the East Coast and finding skateboarding culture at a young age opened his life to art, music, fashion and shaped his very unique creative identity and lifestyle. This exhibition isn’t just about skateboarding, it’s about a personal journey for a very unique overseas Vietnamese American.

c.r.e.a.m inc. will also be introducing and releasing their first run of limited, collectible culture inspired apparel and accessories.

Another side project of his is something called ‘The Hanoi Report’. “This project is about documenting and strengthening the skateboard culture in Hanoi. Events similar to this really only happen in larger metropolitan cities, so in addition to giving the locals that community experience of getting together to support and enjoy something, I hope it will be a memorable experience that will have a lasting effect on them”. The Hanoi Report will be premiering a new skate art film called ‘Sk8 Tape’. A juxtaposition of images and music, a raw 80’s vhs inspired skate video.

Throughout the evening, the creator will be selecting a special audio and visual mix that represents and inspires the brand and lifestyle.

There will be a special video interview screening and Q & A with the creator of this event.

Projected schedule for the exhibition

6 pm • Pop Up Shop Opens
7.20 pm • Video Interview Screening followed by Q & A
8.45 pm • Sk8 Tape premiere

Special music and visual selection will be played throughout the evening starting at 6 PM.
