You are invited to an art performance, entitled “Khoi thu” (translation: The beginning of autumn) by artist Dao Anh Khanh. It is the first part of his latest four-piece performance series.
“I choose Autumn to begin my series of performances, like there was a time they like to choose the letter ‘e’ as the first character of the alphabet. From Autumn, to Winter, then Spring and Summer. Each season of nature will rush in, and strongly manifest itself, in my works.”
Performance series “Cung nuoc” (translation: With water) is a series of four performances on water by artist Dao Anh Khanh. The series is an experiment artpiece using Water as the environment for performing. Each performance in the series is a journey to explore the language of performing art with choreography, body art, music and lighting.
Dao Anh Khanh was born in 1959. He is an professional contemporary visual and performing artist, famous for his series “Dao Xuan” which was performed for 8 consecutive times in the span of more than 10 years (starting from 2001 in Ngoc Thuy, Gia Lam) and other works all over the country and around the world. Not only a performance artist, he also the author of many visual artworks, sculptures, architectural and landscape designs that bear his unique style.
* How to get there:
Take the Chuong Duong or Long Bien bridge, then turn left (dyke road) heading towards Ngoc Thuy. When you see the sign “Cau Dong Tru, 2.5km” (Dong Tru bridge), turn right towards the end of the dyke, taking Alleyway 462. Dao Anh Khanh Treehouse is at the end of this alleyway. However, the first part of the alleyway is now quite rocky, so you can alternatively take Alleyway 438 then turn right to Alleyway 462 to avoid the bad road.
