From the organizer:

Taking place on Januaray 20th and 21st 2018, “Em đi chơi Tết” is a cultural event that portrays the signature traditions of the Lunar New Year in Northern Vietnam.

Only on these two days right at the center of Hanoi that you can enjoy the atmosphere, shop for Tết ornaments from the “kind” and young brands who commit to creating positive social impacts, and participate in cultural activities such as:

– Paper / Bamboo mask painting
– Traditional Kim Hoang printing and coloring – a long lost art that has just been rediscovered recently
– DIY Tree decoration from Vietnamese traditional paper (“Do” paper, “Duong” paper, “Diep” paper)
– DIY TET postcards for nice wishes from Vietnamese traditional paper
– DIY lucky-money pockets
– DIY Tree hangers with macramé knitting, by H’mong ethnic students
– DIY Rice cakes with Artisan Hà Thị Thu – from Thai ethnic with family tradition of making rice cakes
– Calligraphy experience with Master Nguyễn Văn Dũng from Van Mieu Calligraphy Club

Besides, in the afternoon of Jan 20th, we will proudly present two mini events:

– A mini talk show with the topic “TET banquet preparation for dummies” with international food artisan Trịnh Thị Bích Liên, who will share an effective way to display the 5-fruits-plate and the TET traditional banquet (only for 50 people, first come first serve)
– A áo dài mini show presents a TET collection for moms & daughters, and for ladies on the first trip of the New Year
– Your new year luck revealed through the art of FengShui

The event is also a place to connects prospective young brands on pure silk, textile fabric, ao dai, bamboo homewares, macramé knitting, as well as local organic agricultural products.

This is also a fundraising for community projects that we are supporting. Two of them are:

– Action For Lùng Tám: a project to support the sustainable development of Lung Tam Textile and Fabric Cooperative, Quan Ba, Ha Giang, that empowered 150 Hmong ethinc women (Project link: facebook.com/actionforlungtam/)
– Ngoc Long Dormitory Village & Career training library: a project by NABE Architect to support nearly 500 primary and secondary students at Ngoc Long Sub-school, Ngoc Long Ward, Yen Minh District, Ha Giang
