Following the success of the program in 2018, “MADE IN VIETNAM – Contemporary dance workshop” returns to Hanoi at 2 pm, 06 Jul 2019 at Military University of Culture and Arts.

MADE IN VIETNAM 2019 is facilitated by choreographers-actors Vu Ngoc Khai and Ta Hong Hoang Anh. Experienced in both performing and teaching in Vietnam and Europe, they are dedicated to the applicability and importance of the art of dance in mental health treatment and in children’s development.

Ngoc Khai and Hoang Anh will introduce selected media from everyday life – living beings and the transformation process where they turn into amazing, mesmerizing movements. Not only helps the participants improve performing techniques, the course also provide knowledge with high applicability.

With the language of movements as foundation and the inspiration through conversation with one’s self and other people, the course is for everyone to join. From people who have worked in the field for many years to those who are looking for a delightful way to live, the program will help you improve your skills, bring you on a retreat when your body is in tune with your breath and with the music…

In particular, all students will join two facilitators in an improvisational performance on stage with exclusively-designed lighting and music.

About the facilitators:

VU NGOC KHAI just finished his work at Konzert Theater Bern in Switzerland and returned to Vietnam after 13 years of in Europe. Prior to that, he worked at theaters in Germany such as Volkstheater Rostock (2016 – 2018), Staatstheater Braunschweig (2015-2016), Staatstheater am Gaernerplatz (2010-2011), Conny Jassen Danst (Jan – Oct, 2009) and Danceworks Rotterdam (2007-2009) in the Netherlands, Arabesque in Vietnam (2012-2015). He also participated in international projects between Vietnam and Italy, Belgium such as “Hanoi Stardust” (2014), “Mishima” (2013), choreographed and produced the “Nón” – Conical hat (2015), “Day Gieng” – Into the Well (excerpt performed on 28 Jun 2019).

Ngoc Khai graduated with a degree in Ballet from Vietnam Dance College – class of 1997-2004, and continued to study for 1 year at Codarts Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. He started to choreograph and produce performances since 2009. In March 2019, at the International Ayang Young Choreographer Competition in South Korea, among other entries from Asian countries, his work “Mushroom Zones” became a finalist then won the First Prize.

Besides choreographing, he is also focused on teaching. Learning about the body, he cares about appropriate movement of the body – how to walk, stand, lie, sit, fall and breathe. He and his colleagues set up a non-profit volunteering project – Tu Toi Den Ban (From Me To You) in Vietnam since Jan 2018 with the desire to bring to disadvantage children the experience of discovering the your own beauty.

TA HONG HOANG ANH was born in 1991.

In 2009, after graduating from Vietnam Dance College, Hoang Anh worked at Vietnam National Opera and Ballet and had the chance to work with many international choreographers and to participate in many performances in Russia, Singapore, Cambodia.

In 2012, Hoang Anh received a scholarship in Switzerland with Civevox Juniox Company and performed in a national tour around Switzerland for 2 years, and a summer tour in 2014 in Brazil.

In 2014, Hoang Anh started working at St. Gallen Dance Company (Switzerland) and performances in Germany, Brazil, Argentina… and also collaborated with Rote Velo Company in their annual dance projects.

Besides being an actor, Hoang Anh is also a lecturer and contemporary choreographer at St. Gallen Dance School from 2015 to 2018, and acted as assistant choreographer for St. Gallen Festspiele’s annual operas performed at the city’s cathedral.

In August 2018, Hoang Anh act, taught, and performed as a freelance contemporary dancer in Hanoi. From September 2019, Hoang Anh will start working at Tanzania der Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.
