M.A.P is kicking off a new season with a series of exciting activities and changes to celebrate its fifth year anniversary and mark a new start for Heritage Space in a new space (at VICAS 32 Hao Nam, Hanoi). We want to invite you to be part of these milestones by becoming our Volunteer for M.A.P 2019!

WHAT IS M.A.P?

Month of Arts Practice (M.A.P) is an annual project of Heritage Space focusing on artistic practice, experiment and exchange in order to support the development of local art scene. MAP is initiated by visual artist Tran Trong Vu since 2015, with two target objects:

– Create a new art school curriculum, unprecedented in Vietnam, where there is no teacher, no student and all participant artists are colleagues. They exchange and learn from each other. They work alongside each other in the same space, around the same theme and in the same working and living conditions. Through this project, Vietnamese artists will learn more about international contemporary art and experience the philosophy of contemporary artists. Artists from overseas will also gain new experiences working in a foreign environment where cultural exchange is inevitable.

– Give the local audience an opportunity to experience the progress of contemporary art in Vietnam as well as overseas, help to understand how art can benefit communities. We hope to promote the creation of spaces and bridge perception and social behaviors to generate motivation for the development of art, and a sustainable society.

M.A.P 2019 will be implemented from Oct 1 – middle of December 2019. The official working time for the project will be around 6 weeks, from Oct 12 – Nov 23, 2019.

WHO DO WE NEED?

We’re looking for VOLUNTEERS for the following positions:

1. Translator/Interpreter (English – Vietnamese)
2. Documentation (firming & taking photo)
3. Logistics & Event organizers
4. Artist assistant
5. Media (online and event)

WHAT BENEFITS YOU GAIN?

Becoming a volunteer of MAP 2019, you will:
– Have opportunities to talk and work directly with artists, experts and curators from Vietnam and many countries around the world.
– Directly participate in the artistic creation process of the artists to better understand the process of forming a contemporary art work;
– Directly participate in the process of preparing for the final exhibition to understand the curatorial work and setting-up a contemporary art exhibition.
– Attend exclusive talks for M.A.P’s artists and guests only
– Join Art Tours to visit unique art spaces in Hanoi such as Nha San Collective, Manzi, Art Vietnam Gallery, Hanoi DOClab, Goethe Institut, Dom Dom …
– Have opportunities to work and self-develop in a professional and international working environment.
– Get certificate from Heritage Space.
