From Heritage Space:

Heritage Space is pleased to invite you to the Lecture and Discussion named “Curating Festival and Exhibition for Memories”, leading by Liheng Lee, Curator of Festival & Exhibition from Taiwan & China. This program is a part of Expert’s Section – MAP 2019, only for artists in the project and representatives from Heritage Space’s partners.

* CONTENT (FROM THE SPEAKER):
Memory belongs to you in person, to your generation as a whole, and to the city where you are from. ‘Beyond Destruction’ reminds us that, something should not be taken from destruction totally; such as memory of you, and your city. My lecture will try to introduce you some international festival and exhibition related to the topic of memory, explore what we can learn from them; and turn it into what we can do for our own festivals and exhibitions. What are the basic elements for curating festivals and exhibitions? What are the common points and differences between festival and exhibition? Should I take my ideas and turn them into festivals or exhibitions? We will develop our MAP together.

* About the speaker:
Lee Li-heng is a theatre critic and has worked as an arts festival curator in the Greater Chinese region for more than two decades. He received his MA degree from the Department of Performance Studies of New York University. He was the dramaturge and international producer of U Theatre from 1998 to 2004, and has worked with the Festival of Avignon, the Next Wave Festival, the Barbican Centre, and other twenty festivals around the world. Lee was the artistic director of the Taipei Arts Festival from 2004 to 2006, and the general director of the City Square Arts Festival at the Shanghai Expo in 2010. He has published books on theatre in Taipei and Shanghai. Lee has been living in Shanghai since 2009.
