From Heritage Space:

Heritage Space is pleased to invite you to the Lecture and Discussion named “Meaning of curating experimental/conceptual art exhibitions in urban environments”, leading by curator Pil Joo Jung from Seoul, South Korea. This program is a part of Expert’s Section – MAP 2019, only for artists in the project and representatives from Heritage Space’s partners.

The talk is about the meaning of curating experimental/conceptual art exhibitions in urban environments. This topic will be presented with the following subjects. 1) type of venue 2) genre 3) sustainability 4) artist 5) audience 6) network.

Introduction from the artist:

These subjects will be covered with the examples from the art project, ‘Conceptual Yeonnam’, I have been curating at the art space called ‘Projectroom Yeonnam’, where I have been running for almost 2 years. The space was originally built as office, and I am using it as the exhibition space with another purpose of office in the same time. By introducing seven artworks with the video clips, including performance, installation, sound art, and perfume art which were presented as the monthly project of Conceptual Yeonnam, I will briefly explain the art practices and try to underline the meaning of curating experimental/conceptual art exhibitions in urban environments. I will go further with other non-traditional art spaces in S. Korea. Lastly, I want to highlight the differences between ‘alternative space’, ‘new space’ and ‘artist-run space’ in S. Korea. The expected lecture time could be 40 min, followed by 50 min discussion.
