Heritage Space proudly present MAP-Talk 4 named “MODULES of IDENTITY” with presentations by artists Aung Myat Htay (Myanmar), Ha Dao and Nguyen L.Chi (Vietnam), led by curator Do Tuong Linh (Vietnam). The talk is going to be led by Nguyen Anh Tuan. It is a part of the exchange activities in “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2019” by Heritage Space.
As part of the MAP 2019 with the theme “BEYOND DESTRUCTION”, MAP Talk 4 is a series of presentation and discussion on the art practice of three artists:
Aung Myat Htay – an independent artist/ curator based in Yangon (Myanmar) – will share about his artistic works and recent project that are inspired by exploring the potential in the freedom of expression found in contemporary art. He expresses social messages with work that combines a contemporary sense with traditional forms of painting and sculpture.
Ha Dao, an independent photographer, will share her documentary practice through personal photography projects she has been working on. Besides writing about and curating photography, shooting is a fundamental part in her relationship with the medium. Curious to the point of being voyeuristic at times, she often participates in, observes and documents private situations then look at them in relation to the contemporary social context. She is interested in a wide range of topics, namely gender and gender performance, perception of self identity, emotional states in love, or impacts of changes in the environment.
In the talk, Chi L. Nguyen will present about her illustration practice with multi-sensory approach going beyond the norms and constriction of visual illustration, including experiments developed since university until now and details about her work for MAP 2019. As in her statement, Art is ‘constructing visual language modules with sensory illustrations and going experimental beyond the norms of illustration’.
MAP-Talk is the core program of “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2019” project. The aim is to create a channel between international and Vietnamese artists, local art communities and the public through talks and discussions.
