From the organizer:

“In Multipoint, four artists—Nguyễn Việt Cường, Nguyễn Hữu Tăng, Bảo Nguyễn, and Đặng Quang Tiến—each bring their own perspectives and expressive methods, yet they share a common exploration of patterns within their artistic practices. Here, ‘patterns’ encompass not only aesthetic motifs but also social, historical, and perceptual structures.

Social norms, cultural values, and economic-political systems may contribute to the creation and perpetuation of social biases. This reflection on patterns is conveyed through the contradictions present in the practices or artworks within Multipoihnt. Cường studies and archives the patterns of Thái Lạc Pagoda but paradoxically does so by burning them; Bảo arranges traditional motifs and symbols of aristocracy alongside modern fashion and objects; the ducks in Tiến’s paintings move in conflicting, opposite directions; and the figures in Tăng’s works contrast with reality in their visual interpretation of portraiture. These contradictions create contrast and expand the perception of patterns.

Through this exhibition, the artists not only explore the significance and forms of patterns within their artistic practices but also aim to reflect upon, question, and expand the dialogue around patterns from multiple viewpoints, a sentiment echoed in the exhibition title chosen by all four artists.”
