From the organizer:

The open studio presents Ha Dao’s three-month residency in Switzerland funded by Pro Helvetia. She merges images of alternative spiritual practices with musings inspired by the century-old and rumored to be haunted villa where she spent most of her time.

Once marginalized or even prosecuted, traditions like witchcraft, astrology, tarot and crystals seem to experience a cultural resurgence in Switzerland and beyond. This prompts her to question the present standing as well as the reason behind the renewed interest in divination and healing. Next to photographs, the written account reveals the irony and doubts in her undertaking, including reflection on the perfect condition for art making offered by the residency program.

*The title is borrowed directly from the book Liaozhai Zhiyi by Chinese author Pu Songling.
