The result of the Asia-Europe Photographers‘ Forum 2009 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May, is an exhibition on “Creative Economies” which looks at the various ways in which Asian and European societies re-imagine and reflect on embedded economies systems. These photographs explore creative means of sustainability through traditional subsistence economies, creative communities and social cooperation.

Following an intense week of dialogue and guidance from invited university lecturers, curators and established photographers like Peter Bialobreski from Germany, known from last year’s workshop and exhibition Mapping Invisible Cities, the exhibition “Creative Economies” showcases the collaborative efforts of 23 emerging photographers form 18 European and Asian countries united by a shared theme. One of them is the Vietnamese photographer Nguyen Thanh Hai.
