The Italians have done it again with OPLAS!!! Another spectacular dance company.

Touch is the third part of a trilogy (Project Spettacolo Umbria) commissioned by the Region of Umbria and the Italian Ministry of Culture – and what I’d give to see performances of Love (2007) and Spazi Di Nessuno (2008).

Touch has been performed in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and what an athletic and superably beautiful ensemble piece it is. The company often signaturized by its stilt dancing (try to see a performance of their Fatidicus for a brilliant theatrical example) and this was utilized in one superb pas de deux.

The music, ranging from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to very modern, was a marvelous foil and accompaniment to the hypnotic dance and engrossing choreography.

Absolutely fabulous!… Catch bits and pieces of their brilliant output on You Tube and salivate over Julieta e Romeo.

Thank goodness that the company is used to public outdoor performances and all of the the tribulations that go with them. The popping flashes of mobile cameras would have had them off their stilts and all over the floor in misplaced moves otherwise. And the VIP’s in the front rows were amongst the biggest offenders.

And the talkers!!! Nuff said.
