Following the great popular success of the first festival in 2009, the 2nd International Documentary Film Week will take place in 2010. Included will be documentaries from Germany, Italy, Belgium, France and Switzerland together with current Vietnamese documentary films, creating the possibility for analysis of various approaches to the documentary form, for comparisons to be made, for discussions to take place.

Goethe Institut will present the film “Endstation der Sehnsüchte” (Home from Home) by Sung Hyung Cho, a film about three South Korean women who left home more than 30 years ago to work in Germany. Now they are returning with their German husbands to the homeland they have always longed for, in order to spend their final years together there. But here too they realize that they cannot seamlessly reconnect with their roots.

The film “Native Soil” by director Vuong Khanh Luong will also be screened in this Documentary Film Week.

“Home from Home” will be screened in German with Vietnamese and English subtitles.
“Native Soil” will be screened in Vietnamese with English subtitles.
