Join members of the Hanoi Writers’ Collective as they read from their new book, Strange Roots: Views of Hanoi. Founded in 2009, the Hanoi Writers’ Collective is an international group of poets, novelists, bloggers, and nonfiction writers. In Strange Roots, members of the Collective reflect on life in Hanoi through poems, fiction, essays and artwork.

Each of these writers is a visitor to Hanoi—whether for six months or six years. But even though they’re foreigners, they find their interactions with the city change them in indelible ways. Each of the pieces in Strange Roots reflects on that process—how we discover this wonderful, chaotic city and how we set down strange roots in Hanoi’s fertile soil. The evening will feature readings by the authors as well as a complimentary glass of wine.
