Hue – Workshop about Contemporary Arts

You are invited to the discussion on contemporary arts of the 2 artists: Laura Cooper and Connelly LaMar. The discussion includes 2 parts: presentation and Q&A and exercises for students.

Part One: Lecture and Q&A
In the first part of our joint-workshop Laura Cooper and Connelly La Mar will discuss selected individual works, and show examples of prior projects, installations and performances. Both artists will then discuss collaborative work, and projects, along with showing stills and/or clips from collective works.

The breakdown will be roughly 20 minutes for each artists’ discussion of personal work, and and 20 minutes for an introduction to our collaborative projects. This will culminate in an introduction to our current project, and investigation during this residency dealing with the nature of alarm calls.

Part Two: Exercise
The second hour of the workshop will be encompassed by a collaborative exercise with all the students, which will be led and organized by Connelly La Mar and Laura Cooper. Documentation of this process will be done in video by the Brothers, or available assistants. We will give a series of instructions related to alarm calls using a game-like structure. We will give a draft of this in advance to be translated into Vietnamese for ease of understanding and completion of the exercise. The end result will be a series of groups making different alarm call noises, which will have a clear conclusion. The end of the game.
