From East Meets West Foundation (EMW):

East Meets West Foundation (EMW), in coordination with Hanoi Hash House Harriers (HHHH), will be holding a public sports event namely Running Hearts Hanoi in Hoa Lac suburban area of Hanoi. The event is being organized to raise funds for pediatric patients of EMW’s Operation Healthy Heart (OHH) program which provides access to financial and medical assistance for children with serious heart defects and through which more than 3.400 disadvantaged children have been saved.

Over 100 Vietnamese and foreign nationals living in Vietnam will participate in the run. Participants will have to complete a 10km running or a 5km jogging route, passing through picturesque green scenes around Hoa Lac countryside.

On average, it takes USD 2.500 to save a child with heart defect in Vietnam. By paying ticket fee (from 50.000 to 200.000 VND depending on one’s age), each participant is committed to donate a portion of that to the patients of OHH program.

All proceeds from the event will go towards helping children with heart defects with financial aid to receive in-time treatment.

This year’s run is developed from a successful cooperation last year by the two partners. In September 2012, EMW and HHHH also organized a similar charity run to raise awareness about social inclusion for people with disabilities (PWD). With about 120 participants, the event succeeded in raising over 31 million VND to support disabled sports clubs in Quang Tri province.

Tickets: 200,000 VND.

Deadline to register to the event is October 6, 2013.
