3. I have never went to any of the ADGE performances and actually this is my first time knowing about ADGE, so I hope that I can go to see their performance.

4. Frankenstein is a character that has been used in many animated movies that I have seen as a child and ever since then I have liked him. After growing a bit older and being more fluent in English, I got the book and only then I understood that Frankenstein was not the name of the create creature, but the name of the doctor that created him. But then I felt compassion towards and organism that didn’t have his own identity and was only called “monster”, “creature”, “demon”… Anyway, in short, I very moved by the story and liked it since then.
I really want to see the Theater adaptation of this book, because it is one of my favorite and because I have a thing for theater performances. Theater for me is a direct art, carefully created and performed to the audience first hand and let the audience experience it first hand.

4. Going to see Paul Stebbings’ production of Dr. Jerkyll last year was a totally mind-blowing experience for me. The drama was thrilling (kept me at the edge of my seat all the way), the acting wasn’t like acting at all and surprisingly engaging (especially the humorous reference to the Vietnam news), the staging was also superb. We don’t get much chance to see this high quality of theatre performance of big plays in Vietnam, so I hope I won’t miss this once-a-year chance to be thrilled again by another ADGE’s performance of an horror classic.

Thứ nhất, đây là vở kịch được dựng lại từ tiểu thuyết kinh điển “Frankenstein” của nhà văn Mary Shelley. Cuốn tiểu thuyết này là một trong những cuốn sách tôi rất yêu thích. Dù tác phẩm mang hơi hướng kinh dị nhưng thấm đẫm tính triết lý sâu sắc về cuộc đời và con người, khơi gợi trong tôi những cảm xúc tốt đẹp cùng sự đồng cảm sâu sắc với quái vật bị loài người xa lánh, ruồng bỏ. Tuy nhiên, do mới đọc bản dịch tiếng Việt nên tôi có cảm giác mình vẫn chưa cảm nhận được trọn vẹn ý nghĩa, cái hồn của tác phẩm gốc. Vì vậy, xem kịch sẽ là cách để tôi thực sự sống cùng các nhân vật trong tác phẩm bởi chỉ các nghệ sĩ mới có thể tái hiện lại được tuyến nhân vật một cách chân thực, sinh động và có hồn nhất, đồng thời truyền tải cho người xem những cảm xúc, chiêm nghiệm mới mẻ, thú vị.

Thứ hai, tôi chưa bao giờ được xem kịch do các nghệ sĩ nước ngoài biểu diễn. Do đó, tôi rất mong mình sẽ may mắn có cơ hội được thưởng thức tài năng diễn xuất của các nghệ sĩ quốc tế cũng như được trải nghiệm không gian sống động của sân khấu kịch chuyên nghiệp do ADGE dàn dựng.

4. ADGE brought theatre performances to Vietnam annually and I have never been to one of them. So I am quite curious about their perfomance. Besides, the Frankenstein Theatre sounds interesting to me as it is said to be one of the most potent modern myths. The corporation of talent director Paul Stebbings and composer Paul Flush is also desirable.

Mình cũng đã tìm rất nhiều bản phim hay nhạc kịch để xem, nhưng xem trên sân khấu, xem những nghệ sĩ biểu diễn trực tiếp thì chưa bao giờ. Besides the profession, I personally love to explore indie movies, music, cultural events and of course the theater. “When can I get to Broadway and see Cat?” I think that to myself… With all of the curiosity and passion and drives, I am looking forward to seeing Frankenstein by ADGE this month.
