From the organizer:

You are invited to NET*, a solo exhibition by Nguyen Quang Huy.

Inspired from the lines and contours, the most basic language of fine arts, Nguyen Quang Huy wants to explore the different possibilities of lines through a new way of expression in the three-dimensional space. The material was experimented this time is concrete, a solid and industrial one with simple forms and shapes. In contrast with concrete, there’s Dó paper (rice paper) which was used in his earlier subtle works but also full of contemplation and questions. For Huy, the lines and contours have a universal value. Through the net (essence) of each individual the original energy will arise and nothing can limit or control it.

Through all his works, Huy always chooses the simplest way of expression in both forms and colors but his works never lacks concerns, reflection and contemplation about life and society. This time he returns to the same question of existence that he posed two decades ago. Come back to the art scene after a time of absence, Huy’s lines and contours once again come full circle.

*NET: in Vietnamese, “Net” rhymes with the word “Nét”, which means contour, line, outline. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, “Net” in English means ultimate, the main point, the essence.

Free entry.
