Contemporary Dance Performance Company Derashinera “Another Story”

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam proudly presents contemporary dance performance “Another Story” by Company Derashinera, directed by Mr. ONODERA Shuji.

Company Derashinera was founded on 2006 and has performed not only in Japan but also abroad. They had just finished performance in New York on this November successfully. This time, they will perform two pieces and this is the first time to perform in Vietnam.

Their performance is based on technics of mime. The performance is much more like theatrical work than dance. The mime movement of their dance makes something invisible to visible. They attract audience by all their own style.

Mr. Onodera Shuji, had directed and choreographed for all performances of the company “Water and Oil” before he formed Company Derashinera on 2006. After forming the Company as a director, he keeps directing and choreographing not only the performance for his company but also for the project of other theater’s works, like SPAC (Shizuoka Performing Arts Center), KAAT (Kanagawa Arts Theater).

He has been appointed as a “Japan Cultural Envoy” by the Agency of Cultural Affairs of the government of Japan in fiscal year 2015. As a cultural envoy, he will stay in Vietnam and Thailand for one and half month to hold workshops. In Vietnam, workshop will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for dancers and dance students.

1.”Another Story” (23 min.)
This is a road movie of two men and one woman. They visit a bowling alley and a restaurant during a journey. Through the whole journey, they have no words.

2.”An Occurrence of a Night” (45 min.)
This is a dream. This is the dream of one night. It is a proof of being. It is said to be existence. It maintains that non-existence exists. It doubts even the existence. This is a portrait of the non-existence world.
