Thu 15 Sep 2016, 7.30 pm
Blossom Art House

From the organizer:

“To define new media art is almost as difficult as to define art…One of the possible answers would be that the penetration of new media into contemporary art practices is an ongoing process.” – Lorenzo Pereira

Since the 90s, the world has witnessed the rapid development of information and communications technology. Along with that, artists from around the world have also begun to experiment with new technologies and new tools such as the Internet, Robot, 3D, virtual reality… that the technology era has offered. After initially developed outside the art world, art works and artists of this genre have been welcomed by the public, museums and academies as the mixed child of art and technology. Academics and critics temporarily referred to this artistic genre as New Media Arts.

The talk will introduce the history and a (temporary) definition of New Media Arts, as well as some ‘classic’ artworks of this genre.

This talk is a part of the project Untitled.exe – the first online art exhibition in Vietnam.
