From the organizer:

Friends of Vietnam Heritage invites you to join us for a thriller from the dawn of capitalism in Vietnam.

HEAVEN’S NET (2003) begins the late 80’s after the Doi Moi economic reforms, when the difference between capitalism and corruption was immaterial to those at the peak of power. A powerful property developer conspires with ABC bank president Hoang (Dao Ba Son) by issuing enormous loans to dozens of fake companies, and taking a ‘personal’ cut of every transaction. As the scheme begins to unravel, every player must indulge or exploit greed, pride, lust, loyalty, family and political ties.

Inspired by true events, Heaven’s Net has had a lasting impact in Vietnam. The striking production inspired designs for a new courthouse in Ho Chi Minh City, while the unsubtly fictionalized story told a more damning account than the newspapers of the day.

Film running time: 101 minutes. In Vietnamese with English subtitles

Cost: 150,000vnd
Limit: 90 people
