The Dogma Prize for contemporary self-portraiture has recently announced a short-list of 23 finalists from 254 eligible applications.

The artworks from the 23 finalists will be exhibited in Hanoi, during which the Jury Board will convene again to decide on one Grand winner and one recipient of a Residency program in Switzerland.

This year, the array of self-portraits selected for the final round reflects a commitment to nurture the budding contemporary art scene in Vietnam by featuring not only paintings but also videos, installations, video installations and mixed media.

Each of the finalists has earned a chance to compete for the Grand Prize, which awards 150 millions VND (US$6,600), a trip to Germany to visit documenta 14, arguably the most recognised modern and contemporary art exhibitions in the world, and a solo exhibition.

In partnership with the Futur Foundation, Dogma Prize also grants a 10-week Residency program in Switzerland to a young local Vietnamese artist to develop his/her practice with a mentor artist.

More information on the finalists’ exhibition in Hanoi will be announced in due course.
