From the organizer:

You are invited to “Bóng & Hình” (Shadow & Shape) – an exhibition of 22 oil paintings – the latest artworks made by Le Thiet Cuong in 2016 and 2017.

The artworks were inspired by the simple, familiar things in life like streets, houses, trees, rivers. In Cuong’s opinion: “These are the ingredients for my work, but perhaps they could be seen differently through the exhibition and evoke something else, rather than just being some shadows and shapes.

Artist Le Thiet Cuong started his journey with minimalism 30 years ago (1988 – 2018), and has practiced and experimented with the minimalist style in every way possible. In this exhibition, audiences will get to see a very different approach to minimalism. On the influence of Buddhism and its teachings on Le Thiet Cuong, the critic Phan Cam Thuong said: “Maybe the artist wants to create a new ‘art-meditation’ approach where art has symbolic and suggestive values”.
