From L’Espace:
You are invited to a screening of the documentary film “A qui Appartient la Terre?” (“Who owns the Earth?”)
Director: Doan Hong Le (Vietnam, 2009, 54′, Documentary)
Editor: Aurélie Ricard
Producer: Ateliers Varan
The film was filmed in the agricultural lands of the southern province of Quang Nam, some kilometers from Da Nang City, where the American soldiers were based during the Vietnam War. The government of Vietnam decided to “modernize” the entire coastal region by transforming them into vast hotel complexes, forcing local people out of their lands. Residents in the Dien Ngoc Village had had to give up their paddy fields so that American investors can build golf courses. The film centers on the local people who object to the land acquisition.
