You are invited to a special exhibition of 75 wood prints: of which 10 were created by Dany – the famous Belgian painter, and about 60 others are the cover pages of books from Wallonie-Bruxelles which have been translated and published in Vietnam. Notable works among them are of great writers such as Maurice Maeterlinck (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911), world-famous detective novelist Georges Simenon, and contemporary writers like Amélie Nothomb, Jean-Pierre Orban, Nicolas Ancion…
The exhibition also presents cover artworks with popular characters in Belgian comics such as Smurf, Tintin, Lucky Luke, Spirou…, along with several other works illustrating children’s books. The opening ceremony took place at 4 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Nguyen Van Binh Book Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Within the framework of “Vietnam’s Book Day”, the quintessential jazz culture of Wallonie-Bruxelles will also be honored on this occasion at the book street, along with a short performance.
Famous comic book artist Dany will also be in Ho Chi Minh City to attend the exhibition. After that, 29 of his wood prints selected by Dany himself will be displayed at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, 5 Phan Dang Luu, Binh Thanh District, from 22 Apr to 3 May. The Opening Ceremony will take place at 6 pm on Monday 22 Apr. In addition, the artist will work with the university’s lecturers and students from 22 to 24 Apr. A professional exchange between the artist and the university’s lecturers and students as well as professional illustrators will be held at 9 am – 12.00 pm on Monday 22 Apr. All of these activities take place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts.
