From the organizer:

You are invited to come to Nguyễn Thúy Hằng’s ‘Dew Drips, Smog Seeps: Sculptural Lament Collection’.

Nguyễn Thúy Hằng is one of the rare female artists in Vietnam who has made marks in both literature and visual arts, constantly shifting between the duality of these worlds. Despite the fast-growing operation of the contemporary art ‘machine’, the artist has allowed herself to be quiet and to contemplate for nearly two years before returning with the series ‘Dew Drips, Smog Seeps: Sculptural Lament Collection’.

In ‘Dew Drips, Smog Seeps’, Hằng seeks to emphasize the instances and spontaneity in life. The moments that seem to pass in a blink of an eye are just as important as the maintenance of a single thought. The manual interaction between artist and the works appears within each dent, layering of paper and the barren bamboo roots that she collected from Cam Ranh. When all converge, ‘Dew drips, Smog seeps’ reveals a liberation for her own consciousness and suggests possibilities to approach the ‘last chapter’ of one’s life. We wonder if it is the end, or does it signal a new path that is about to open?

‘Dew Drips, Smog Seeps: Sculptural Lament Collection’ came to realisation with thanks to curator Lê Thiên Bảo.
