From the organizer:
You are invited to the discussion “individuality_INDIVIDUALITY”, as part of the talk series “What is the architect looking for?” This discussion will be about art and architecture, with artist Truong Tan as guest speaker.
Through his point of view in practicing arts, Truong Tan will share his thoughts on the topic “individuality_INDIVIDUALITY”
– An artist always has the struggle between: one – livelihood, two – art career – the need to find one’s self.
– Does an artist, in their period of time, have to play the role of an archivist, not just to archive but to save the spirit of their era in the artworks?
– Finding their individuality and make people accept their INDIVIDUALITY, is that the choice that artists as well as architects pursue?
Truong Tan is a contemporary artist with an important role in the Vietnamese art scene, one of the first artists to introduce Performance art and Installation art to Vietnam. He explores his being and freedom through various forms of expression such as paintings, performances, installation arts, sculptures… His works are displayed in many galleries and institutions in Asia, Europe and America, such as Guggenheim Museum (New York, USA), Kunsthalle Bielefeld (Germany), Gallery 4A (Sydney) and Singapore Art Museum.
