The Seed (the Seed of Life) is the primordial geometry of the universe, a sacred reminder of the very origin of creation. The shape of the “Seed” manifests in the vesica piscis (the intersection of two circles), the eyes, the yoni, the seed, the grain of rice… From a single, tiny seed, everything unfolds and begins.

Sàng Sảy | Sifting and Winnowing is how our ancestors – who weathered sun and dew – used bamboo trays to separate the grains from their husks and discard the hollow ones. This is the fourth step in the traditional, manual process of refining rice before cooking: grinding, pounding, sifting, and winnowing

Sàng Sảy | Sifting and Winnowing is the creative path of 39 Concept, our process of sifting and curating the most core pieces that carry the original spirit and fully embody the philosophy of “The Seed”.

The 15 artworks by painter Lê Thiết Cương centered around his signature “Grains of Rice” represent the DNA, the very backbone of this brilliant artist’s legacy. Together with paintings in diverse materials by artist Nguyen Minh (Minh City) and graphic design works by the young creative team at 39 Concept. We convey an artistic philosophy in which the “Seed” serves to connect generations.

We hope that everyone who experiences Sàng Sảy will journey back within themselves, discovering their own core seed to “sow” the smallest, yet most authentic and beautiful things into this world.
