26 & 28 Nov, 8 pm
Hanoi & HCMC

Boat Beam is the sum of Josephine, Alisha, and Aurora – an Australian, an American and a young Spanish woman. It’s a band that threads together the strings of a guitar, a viola, a cello and a piano.

They make music that whispers of Debussy and Satie but also envelopes like the Cinematic Orchestra and strides like The Shins. They bring to mind the likes of Fiona Apple and Roi Amos, or what Sylvia Plath would have sung had she dedicated herself to it. Boat Beam is inspired by the music of Jóhann Jóhannson, The Dresden Dolls and Sufjan Stevens but also finds its origins in many other exquisite things. Their songs are fed by their experiences. Their music sounds of books, movies, travelling, life.

This concert is part of the European Music Festival 2009. More information on the festival can be found on this previous post on HanoiGrapevine.
