Light Installation by Herbert Cybulska

The light designer Herbert Cybulska will install light cubes of various colors on the ground of the Goethe-Institut, which will act as light accents and light notes in the space. As darkness falls, these will put the Institut in a new light.

Richard Kelly, one of the fathers of lighting design in architecture, names, along with brightness and accentuation, the “play of brilliants” as the third criteria of lighting design – and is referring to those uses of light which are an extra, a luxury, a pleasure, which add the finishing touch to a design. I am bringing just such a pleasure to the Goethe-Institut Hanoi – inside & outside of the institute, because it should radiate outwards.

Herbert Cybulska has worked for 25 years as a freelance light designer and among other projects was responsible for lighting of the cultural program in the German pavilion at EXPO 2000.
