From the organizer:

Travelling has been playing a very important role in Vu Kim Thu’s path of creativity. However, in recent years, Japan – one of the countries that she had an opportunity to travel to – has inspired her so much and opened new ideas in the way Thu works. In this Art Talk, she would like to present specifically her experiences of participating in Japan through 3 Artists Residencies programs which changed her works in idea, medium, cultural influences and interaction with people. Moreover, Thu would like to share her practice and developing experimentation in Japanese paper – Washi – in the current project during her most recent residency program in Sapporo in the fall of 2014. The talk will not only present Thu’s works but also focus on the daily lives, the organization and the culture of these 3 programs. This will also be a great opportunity for artists interested in applying for these programs in the future, and for audiences interested in Japanese Art and Culture.

The slides will be featured with images from Kamiyama “Artist in Residence” Program, Mino Paper Art Village, Sapporo “Artists in Residence” Program and Tokachi “Artists in Residence” Program.
