From the Museum:

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the International Day for Older Persons (10.1.1991 – 10.1.2016) and the Action Month for the Vietnamese elderly, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum (VWM) will open to public a special exhibition entitled “Stories of Getting Old”.

Using the anthropological approach and photo voice method (handing cameras to subjects), every aspect in the lives of older people will be unfolded. The exhibition has 3 main themes: Wishes; Confessions of Older People and Joy & Sadness featuring those at Thien Duc Nursing Home, where VWM specifically chooses to study. It will also bring about a rather sensitive topic in the society nowadays: Moving parents into nursing homes – Inevitable or Ungrateful?

“Shorten the generation gap and learn to love and respect older people” is the message that the exhibition wants to convey to visitors of all ages.
