From Goethe Institut:

Art tells stories: On March 17 and 18, three musicians and two dancers will jointly tell stories from Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch (English: “Italian songbook”). Katharina Padrok (mezzo-soprano), Sebastian Myrus (tenor) and Boris Schönleber (piano) perform the piece musically. Two dancers from the Hanoi Dance Academy interpret the songs with their bodies – in short choreographic performances by Cao Duc Toan.

The Italienisches Liederbuch is an audio interpretation of 46 traditional Italian love poems. The character of the songs ranges from love to mockery and from conflict to reconciliation. With the extracts of this songbook, we are hence diving deeply into the emotional abyss of mankind.

The concert takes place within the framework of the concert series Listen differently with which we aspire to present surprising and unusual sound experiences to our listeners.

The piano soloist, song accompanist and chamber musician Boris Schönleber studied in Berlin and later received his „Performers Diploma“ in London. His concert journeys led him to many European countries, to South East Asia and several times to Central Asia. He made recordings for movies, TV, radio and CDs both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

Katharina Padrok (mezzo-soprano) is a vocal coach at the Frankfurt Music Academy. She studied vocals at the Berlin University of the Arts. As a sought-after soloist, Katharina Padrok gives concerts in Germany and abroad. Her solo repertoire is diverse. Besides common oratorios, passions and Bach Cantatas, her repertoire covers a number of song programs, contemporary music and tango songs. She has worked with pianist Boris Schönleber many times already. Together they taught master classes in Vietnam and at the Conservatory Hanoi. Sebastian Myrus is also no stranger to her – both sing in the vocal ensemble Athesinus Consort.

Sebastian Myrus (baritone) first performed at the Opera in Munich when he was still a student. As a concert soloist, he works together with many well-known ensembles in Germany and Europe. His interest in music of all styles and eras led him to Washington, Qatar, Hawaii und now to Vietnam.
