From the organizers:
On a special Tet journey, a girl unexpectedly encounters some familiar yet strange stories that reveal what she has not known about her hometown.
“When her parents have to go on a business trip right before Tet holiday, Bao An was taken to live with her grandma in the countryside. At first, not used to the rural environment, Bao An gets sad and misses the city very much. Noticing that, her grandma takes her to the markets, to hear people singing, to the communal house with Chèo and Chầu Văn performances… so that she can experience the real Tet spirit in her hometown.”
The performances are linked together with one single story led by two generations – young and old – much like a way of passing the torch, a message to the young about the preservation and continuation of the quintessence of Vietnam’s tradition.
The show has the participation of:
1. Meritorious Artist Đoàn Thanh Bình
2. Nguyễn Tuấn Kha
3. Nguyễn Văn Phương
4. Lê Thu Hiền
5. Folk artist Mai Thiện
6. Folk artist Ngô Văn Hảo
48h Chèo Gala – “Toi cheo ve que huong” (Back to homeland) is a special gift resulting from the enormous efforts of many young artists who would like to express their views on their ancestors’ stories.
