You like to write want to try writing, want to understand yourself and the world through writing? Or you just start your studying or your job in the communications, press, publishing fields and need the essential knowledge from those who can support and inspire you? You need a “push” for more serious writing?

Come to the “Non-fiction Writing Workshop with Dang Hoang Giang & Truong Uyen Ly”. Through with 2 sessions per week in a total of 10 sessions, we learn in a small group with a more analytical, sharing, open approach that will have you acquire the basic techniques of non-fiction narrative, such as choosing the topic, acquiring information, finding subjects, interviewing techniques, building the scene, building the structure, the link between writing and editing… Writer Dang Hoang Giang and journalist Uyen Ly will share their experience and accompany you in this workshop so that you will be able to make a complete work of your own at the end of the course.

Expected results:
– Enhance observation, analytical skills, ___ as well as the ability to express and share through writing in a precise and inspiring manner.
– Acquire knowledge on writing techniques for a better leverage in jobs and projects that require persuasive thinking and story-telling skills at publishing houses, magazines, media companies, personal blogs or fanpages.

About the instructors:

Dang Hoang Giang is a non-fiction author of prominent works such as “Buc xuc khong lam ta vo can”, “Thien, Ac va Smartphone” (The Good, the Bad and the Smartphone), “Diem den cua cuoc doi” (The Destination of Life), as well as a number of influential essays.

He is also a development expert and a social activist. His researches and policy advocacy activities aim to improve the quality of national governance, transparency and amplify the voice of the people. He strives to expand civil society space, diffuse knowledge, break down prejudices and stigmas, and build a tolerant and compassionate society.

Journalist Truong Uyen Ly always carry a notebook and a pen with her, often worrying that the pen might run out of ink. At the age of 25, she was among a group of journalists from Tuoi Tre Newspaper that were awarded the A-prize (equivalent to the first prize) of the National Journalism Award in 2005 for a series of articles related to the Diary of Dang Thuy Tram – a young female doctor died in the Vietnam war against America. The Diary of Dang Thuy Tram was also considered a media/publishing phenomenon of the year. In 2006, she continued to impress the media with a trip with two Tuoi Tre correspondents to the Lebanese war zone reporting on the situation of Vietnamese workers – most of them female – stranded in the foreign land amidst the war. From 2009 up to now, she has held various positions and roles related to the media, communications and cooperation with domestic and foreign agencies, organizations and individuals.
