You are invited to the solo contemporary dance performance by t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e
Live music : Suboi and Teddy Chilla
Dancer : Emmanuelle Vincent
Duration : 50 minutes
The solo contemporary dance performance “Mutante” is inspired by a unique image in Vietnam’s cities – women cover their faces and bodies entirely when travelling by motorcycle to protect themselves from the sun and pollution. Momentarily then, they become anonymous, faceless people.
After the success of the multidisciplinary performance “Distorsions Urbaines” at Saigon Opera House in 2017 with Vietnamese hip-hop queen SUBOI and young EDM artist Teddy Chilla, Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent / t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e continue the collaboration with their Vietnamese friends. An excerpt from “Mutante” was presented in January 2018 as part of the exhibition Le sourire de la mutation at Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts.
Since 2003, t.r.a.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e / Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent have been exploring the art of movements through combined contemporary art·forms ranging from performance to installation, through dance films and workshops, linking different art disciplines with a cross-cultural approach. They also work as lecturers at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts where they founded the multicultural art lab Máy xay sinh tố in 2016, together with artist Thy Nguyen Truong Minh and university president Nguyen Van Minh.
With the support from Institut Français du Vietnam, Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and Suboi Entertainment.
