Project “The Future of Traditions”: Call for Applications

Looking for young artists who are eager to prove themselves with the own voice.

“Future of Traditions” is a 4-month event with traditional activities to understand our traditions and move forward to the future. The project will be implemented with a series of intensive discussions with artisans from many traditional fields of art such as Tuong, Cheo, Cai Luong and contemporary artists using traditional medium like Nguyen Trinh Thi and Tran Kim Ngoc, Nguyen Oanh Phi Phi, Nguyen Huy An, Nguyen Duc Phuong, Tran Luong. The events take place on weekends from the beginning of April 2019 until June 2019.

In this phase of the project, we aim to have young artists who are practicing in different fields of art, interested in culture & traditional arts and hope to create contemporary artworks using traditional media.
10-15 young artists will be selected and will have guidance and support to develop their art.

1. 03 discussions with the artisans – A series of in-depth discussions on the existence of traditional art: “Traditional art, is it dead or still alive? And for what it exists?”
2. Learn with the artists – A series of 06 professional discussion with contemporary artists.
3. Studio visit – Explore the work space of artists
4. Showcase – At the end of the projects, works selected by our jury of experts will be showcased. Not being limited by any forms or rules, this is a space for young artists to voice their own stories and that of the society by a language that is uniquely yours.

Round 2: Individual interview with our jury of experts so that we can understand your direction and ideas and thus support you better.
