From Institut Français de HCM Ville:

As part of International Francophonie Day, Institut Français du Vietnam proudly presents Music Night with the talented French artist Chaton. The event also takes place in Can Tho on 10 Mar, in Danang on 12 Mar and in Hanoi on 23 Mar.

Simon Rochon Cohen had been known by the Vietnamese public as Simeo for ten years before, when he chose Vietnam as the first destination of a tour taking place in five Asian countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Thailand. Many Vietnamese music lovers will probably still not forget the unique, distinct voice of this talented artist.

The French singer-songwriter and music producer returns to Vietnam for the second time after almost a decade with a new stage name: Chaton. But that’s not the only thing. In this Southeast Asian tour, audience in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho will get to witness Chaton’s ability to renew himself, surpassing his own success to go further on his artistic career. They will get to listen, immerse themselves in the artist’s life experiences, dreams and even illusions and loneliness through music in the most honest way.

Chaton doesn’t come from a family with a musical tradition, but began his musical career quite early on – when he was 6 years old. He started playing piano at the age of 10 and then many other instruments like guitar, drums and percussion. In his teenage years, the “frizzy hair prince” began to compose for amateur groups and at the age of twenty, his first album “Les idées bleues” was born, affirming the undeniable young talent in composition. Three years later, his second album entitled “Envie” was voted Favorite album in France’s largest cultural distribution network, La Fnac. Poetic lyrics, melodic rhythms, blending with rap and reggae sounds to create a unique and fascinating style of Chaton’s compositions.

The success gained from these albums gave Chaton the opportunity to tour all over Europe and Asia. His talent and artistic spirit must be one of the key elements for Chaton’s success. In just 6 years, from 2003 to 2009, he performed nearly 500 solo shows around the world.

During the shows in Vietnam this time, Chaton will introduce to the audience his latest compositions. The audience will be mesmerized not only by enchanting music stories but also by the unique voice, with both rap-esque and smooth sounds and especially the skillful use of auto-tune.
