From Goethe Institut and ticketvn.com:

The German conductor Jonas Alber is back in Hanoi. He is remembered for the opening of the “Cultural Year of Germany in Vietnam 2010” with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Philharmonic Chorus Berlin and VNSO, the Brahms Concerto six years ago, and his Beethoven Symphony No 1 last year. Jonas Alber has returned to Vietnam and participates in the Beethoven cycle of the VNSO this year.

JONAS ALBER has established himself as a sought-after conductor both on the concert podium and at leading international opera houses. His name is associated with benchmark performances of fin-de-siècle works, and his repertoire extends from the baroque to contemporary music. Today he is much in demand as a guest conductor with symphonic orchestras and opera companies in Europe, Asia, South America, New Zealand and South Africa.

The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) is one of most acknowledged orchestras in Vietnam. Under the direction of Tetsuji Honna, it has gained acclaim, prestige, and appreciation from audience, the press, musical critics and musical colleagues in Vietnam and Asia. The Beethoven cycle by VNSO this year will last until the composer’s 250th birth anniversary in 2020.
