People’s Teacher, Associate Professor Hoang Cuong, former Director of the HCMC Conservatory of Music, received his music training in Germany, Russia and Poland. He has won many awards in the field of instrumental music composition, especially at the Vietnam Musician Association he won Second Prize (1990), Second Prize (1996), Second Prize (1997), Third Prize (1998), Third Prize (1999), Second Prize (2000), Second Prize (1990)…
He had the first ideas of Violin Concerto from the 60s when he was still studying in Germany, the Concerto was written in 3 years from 2007 and completed in 2010.
The Concerto is a wrap-up of a life-long of the composer working with the violin and musical composition. It is dedicated to the son of the composer, the excellent violinist Tuan Cuong Hoang- Augustinok, who has won many prestigious awards in Germany such as Ludwig Spohr (1994), Max Reger (1996), Leopold Mozart,… He is currently a member of the Hamburg Philharmoniker Symphony Orchestra, Germany. The premier performance of this work will be performed by the composer’s own son, violinist Tuan Cuong Hoang-Augustinok with the HBSO Symphony Orchestra.
In the first half of the concert, there will also be two popular songs that are loved by the audience: “Bác Hồ một tình yêu bao la” (Uncle Ho – The great love) by composer Thuan Yen and “Tiếng hát từ Thành phố mang tên Người” (The voice from the city named after Uncle Ho) by composer Cao Viet Bach and poetry from Dang Trung.
The second half of the program is dedicated to the contemporary dance “Touching The Past” by choreographers Nguyen Phuc Hai and Nguyen Phuc Hung, with the music written by Vu Viet Anh, Henryk Górecki and Philip Glass.
The highlight of the play is the perspective of today’s young generation on the history of the nation’s war. Feelings of separation, survival instincts in the catastrophe of the war. The women stayed behind and supported each other to overcome the sad news from the war. Through the dance, the dancers express an emotional spiritual connection: the moment the soldier falls down is the time when the innerstorm strikes the women, they fully feel it, know what is happening before the information was officially delivered.
