From the organizer:
Opera is originally from Italy, the cradle of world music.
The art of classical opera developed strongly in Italy and Germany, but to bring opera to the popular public, is the effort of the French.
France was the first to bring everyday life topics into the stage of opera, causing a huge attention from opera audiences and creators. This, on the other hand, had caused a negative effect on the opera capitals like Germany, Italy, and Austria.
One of the most popular operas of this period is Carmen composed by Georges Bizet, whose characters are the outlaws: thieves, prostitutes, which was a social phenomenon at that time. Carmen’s most impressive arias will be performed during the entire second half of the FRENCH OPERAS’ NIGHT.
The first half of the program will perform highlighted excerpts from the operas “Faust”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Mireille” by Charles Gounod; “Lakme” by Leo Delibes; “Louise” by Gustave Charpentier and “La fille du regiment” by Gaetano Donizetti, composed while living in Paris.
Participating in the performance are the HBSO Choir, HBSO Symphony Orchestra and the most prestigious opera artists in Ho Chi Minh City: Pham Khanh Ngoc, Mer.A. Hong Vy, Pham Trang, Dao Mac, Pham Duyen Huyen, Phan Hong Diu, Tran Thanh Nam, Vo Nguyen Thanh Tam, Vu Minh Tri, Phan Huu Trung Kiet, Nguyen Thu Huong, Ly Hoang Kim, Tran Thi Kim Anh.
