Playback theater is a form of original Improvisation Theatre, in which the story of life was recreated immediately on stage, no prepared script, nor the presence of a director, both of which are discarded, instead, it is improvisational and instant interaction of all the participated components.

If the regular theater actors always get the help of the director as well as practice before hand with a ready-made script, on the improvisation stage, the artist has to be both director and actor. No one showed them how to do this or that, which scene plays first, which line ends the play… They have to listen to the story, find the language to express, and cooperate with co-stars. Actors need to be able to improvise, immediately rendered into any character to be willingly able express the rich story of the viewer.

With the aim to introduce this new and unique kind of theater, as well as building a quality playground for enthusiasts of improvisation theater, Life Art is proud to host the PLAYBACK THEATRE – Basic Course.

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?
– Acting skills: telling stories through body expressions, voice…
– Improv skills
– Collective creativity
– An complementary technique for acting

HOW?
You do not need a lot of experience to the stage to participate in this course, by the guide will offer a system of exercises from easy to difficult, from basic to advanced to you gradually master the acting skills and creativity. Improvisational exercises not only gives you the moments completely relax your mind but also help stimulate creativity and a strong connection with your intuition.

BASIC INFORMATION
– Time: 19:15 to 21:45, every Thursday, Start date: October 6th
– Location: The BlackBox, 2nd Floor, 56 Nguyen Khuyen, Dong Da, Hanoi
– The course is intended for: Lovers of stage acting with an open mind, willingness to experience, from 18 years and older.
– Course Duration: 12 sessions – 3 months
(It is expected that the final concert will be a theatrical performances recreated in The BlackBox Art Space, but this will be determined by the actual situation and the wishes of the participants).
– Language: Vietnamese

INSTRUCTORS: Phi Manh Doan and Dang Minh Thu, along with other guest artists.

Phi Manh Dang and Minh Thu Doan learn about Improvision Theatre in 2002 – 2003 in an actor training program by David Glass Theatre (UK). They have 4 years of continuous performing with Hanoi Improvisation Theater Team, 3 years with Nhap Theater and 6 years with The BlackBox Art Space. Below are some notable performance:
