Dao Anh Khanh will present the third in his trilogy of major exhibitions in celebration of Hanoi’s 1000th birthday. And this will be the biggest of them all.
An icon in the Hanoi contemporary art scene, Anh Khanh is known for the spectacular performances that he has staged for years out at his studio in Gia Lam. Always involving music, improvised dance and fire, these events have been getting progressively bigger each year. And now, in celebration of Hanoi’s birthday, comes the biggest of them all – 1000 300* performers on a massive, 3-storey bamboo structure at his studio, and in installations along a kilometer-long stretch of road leading to the studio.
Watch Grapevine for more details.
*Original plans called for 1000 dancers on stage, but logistical and financial constraints will limit the number to 300, still an impressive number.
