From Hanoi Rock City:
Commens and Golem are both, in their own ways, a breath of fresh air for Hanoi’s music scene. The former, bringing their unique brand of Electro Rock to Hanoi. The latter being the city’s only all-girl rock band on the live circuit. A great chance to catch them both @ HRC this Saturday night!!!

For more information about the bands, see below:

Commens:

As far as live music in the capital is concerned, Commens are a very exciting new prospect. Consisting of California transplants Ryan Chittick, Lilly Nguyen and Taylor Cavale, the band produce an edgy, uplifting and fresh electronic rock sound, blending sequenced electronics and synthesisers and drawing upon influences of krautrock, post rock, electronic music, minimalism and maximalism. Up on the stage, live drumming (Cavale) gives Commens a pounding presence and adds an irresistible, raw texture to their performances.

Nguyen and Chittick (ex-drummer Experimental Dental School, Warbler, and Kid 606) have musical roots in the San Francisco music scene playing clubs, warehouses and basements and touring the US and Europe with their various musical endeavours. Once a side project for Ryan that began 13 years ago, Commens has grown and flourished into a full band, delightfully landing on our doorstep. Three people; a whole lot of sound.

Golem:

Supporting Commens will be Hanoi’s all-girl punk-rock-meets-Paris-by-night group, Golem. Around since 2007, the band reformed with a new vocalist and a new lease of life in 2010. These four young Vietnamese women perform largely original compositions with a confidence, charm and charisma that is unique in the local music scene. Vietnam’s answer to PJ Harvey and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Golem are well worth turning up on time for – we tip this bright young band to go onto great things in the near future.
